Deacs in Love: Cameron and Joe Meador

On Sept. 15, 2001, I went to a fellow Wake Forester’s wedding. I love telling people that I met my husband at my sister’s roommate’s brother’s wedding!

I remember seeing Joe and asking my sister, “Who is that? He’s handsome!” She said, “Don’t you know Joe Meador? You just graduated together in May!”

We later found a picture of me sitting directly behind Joe on the Quad at Commencement 2001, with “Morris” being one row behind “Meador.”

I introduced myself to Joe at that wedding reception. It’s amazing to us that we were at Wake Forest together for the same four years, and we never met each other. It didn’t take us long to become two Deacs in love, and Joe proposed three months later.

We married on Dec. 28, 2002 in my hometown of Bath, N.C., and our wedding party included several Demon Deacons: Peyton Morris (’03), Brandon Hollis (’03), Julie Williamson Morelli (’03), Chris Williamson (’00), Colby Meador (’11) and Alex Haddock (’14).

We decided to take the next step of our Wake Forest education journey together and applied for MBA school at the same time. We sat beside each other in every class! We still argue about our grades and joke about whose study team was the best!

Now we have two sons, William Tucker “Liam” Meador (3) and Noah Jonathan Meador (9 months) and live in Madison, N.C. I can’t imagine anything better than sharing my love of Wake Forest with the love of my life!
