Welker named interim provost

Wake Forest has named Mark Welker, vice provost and William L. Poteat Professor of Chemistry, as interim provost.

Welker joined the faculty in 1987. He was named associate provost in 2003 and vice provost in 2010.

The University has formed a search committee to seek a replacement for Provost Jill Tiefenthaler, who is leaving on June 30 to become president of Colorado College.

President Nathan O. Hatch will head the search committee.
