In recognition of his efforts to help Charlotte families in need, Wake Forest School of Law alumnus Thomas E. McNeill (JD ’88) recently received the 2013 Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award from Legal Aid of North Carolina.

In 2012 McNeill assisted nearly 100 clients at Legal Aid, contributing more than 250 hours of pro bono service. In addition he also volunteers weekly with the Loaves and Fishes food pantry and regularly takes on cases with Legal Services of Southern Piedmont.

McNeill said Legal Aid clients are always so grateful for assistance that their gratitude alone makes volunteering worthwhile.

“It has been my privilege to work with Legal Aid,” he said. “I have met some remarkable people and heard some extraordinary stories. It is very satisfying to see someone’s face brighten because you are able to give them good counsel or get some favorable result.”
